"Late Astrid" 8W-Y
The last flush of the heirlooms, these bloom two-odd weeks before the first of the heirloom species jonquils (N. x odorus, or "Campernelle" jonquils, and N. x intermedius, or "Texas Stars").
In general, the flowers have a more modern form, with wider and longer coronas and broader petals. Many are shorter plants presumably hybridized for indoor forcing. Some are inclined to multiply, others are not.
It is possible these "late" bloomers could be enticed to stay dormant a bit longer and thus grow further north, at least to USDA Cold Zone 7b.
