"Atlas" 2020
Despite five-plus seasons of aggressive clucking and care, numerous cultivars are just now hitting their stride, and a handful still have a few years to go. The general rule of thumb for daffodil hybridizers is five to seven years from seed to first flower, and that trajectory seems to apply for very neglected, small tazetta bulbs. Even when chipping bulbs into quarters (rather than little slices using a razor blade), it still takes four to five seasons for bulblets to reach blooming size. The upside for all these little duffers taking forever to 'do their thing' is there still remains hidden delights to be revealed each season.
